Wilmington, MA — A quick scan of the Bruins full roster will reveal a number of colleges, a virtual rundown of usual NCAA suspects, represented by the B’s current players and prospects.

The University of Denver, Colorado College, the University of Michigan, the University of Minnesota, as well as New England hockey powerhouses like the University of New Hampshire and Boston College all make appearances in player bios. But this season, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks have a representative on the Boston roster and defenseman Jeff Penner will try to bring his former program some well-deserved recognition.

Stoesz’s summer skating with Atlanta Thrashers

Stoesz’s skating summer

The first person I wanted to talk to at prospects camp wasn’t someone new or in from abroad, but rather a familiar face. Myles Stoesz was set to have an eventful summer and I wanted to see how it was going so far.

First he told me how his buddies back home were chirping him about the photo I took of him in his white snakeskin shoes. Ah, the price of fashion. He’s rented an apartment in Winnipeg, which is about 45 minutes from his hometown of Steinback, MB, to be closer to where he trains (McDole Performance). He said he’s really enjoying it, “it’s the first summer I feel really good. My trainer has pumped me up, making me feel good about myself. Like I’m gonna improve a lot.”
